Play Dates

This Thursday Alaina had her first play date with Katie Nan. Her mom and I used to work together in Greenwood. When she first saw Katie Nan, Alaina grinned and got very excited. I am so glad she plays well with others (so far!) Here are some pics.

On Friday, she had another date with Ben. His mom and I were in childbirth classes together He was born a couple of weeks after her. They were so sweet together. He was constantly smiling at her and looking at her. Alaina, however, was more interested in the tv.

Ben loved touching her.
She isn't sure about this!

Mr Mom

This past Sunday, I went to Memphis to visit my aunt in the hospital. While I was away, Daniel had to be Mr. Mom. It was his first time feeding Alaina. He told me when he got home, he changed both of their clothes and then he got everything ready to feed Laina. He put her in the high chair and put a bib on her. He put food on the spoon, and while holding it up to her mouth, he said, “Bite.” She just looked at him. Then she looked left and right and looked back at him. Once again, he said, “bite.” She did the same thing again, looking back and forth. Finally, he said, “bite” and pushed the spoon gently into her mouth. This time she understood that Daddy was feeding her. But she was still wondering where momma was! However, once I got home things changed. She wanted nothing to do with me and as hard as I tried I could not get to smile. All she was interested in was Daddy. Everything he did made her smile. I guess she was mad at me for leaving her!

Oh, soon we will have a tooth! The skin is broken and you can feel a little tooth starting to grow!

Birthday Weeekend

This past weekend, Daniel's parents had my birthday celebration filled with slippery fun and ice cream cake! Here are a few pictures.

Here is Alaina's first time down the slide with Papaw and Tyler.

Papaw was really nervous!

Safetly at the end!

Alaina's Check-up

Last Friday was Alaina's 6th month check-up. I cannot believe that she is that old! She had gained 3 pounds (she is now 15 pounds and three ounces) and 2 inches (25 1/2). She screamed when she got her shots but it was over by the time we got to the car. On the way home from Oxford, she started to cry. By the time we got to Water Valley, Daniel told me to get her out of the car seat. All she needed was moma and it didn't matter one bit that we were breaking the law!

Country Life

The best remedy for those who are
afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet,
alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all
is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple
beauty of nature. -- Anne Frank

Alaina feels exactly the same way. She loves being outside. She is instantly calmed from crying when we step on the porch. She loves looking up at the trees. Here are some of my favorite outside pictures!
