First Bath Time

This week we gave Alaina her first bath! A few of my co-workers told me a bath would help her sleep better at night after I complained to them that I had not gotten enough sleep the night before. I hate to admit it, but I was kind of dreading her first bath. I wondered how she was going to react and hoped she wasn't like me and screamed bloody murder every time she took a bath. That would really be awful! Here are a few pictures to show how she reacted. It wasn't as bad as I thought! It was actually fun and something I look forward too!

I don't like this!

I still don't know if I like this!

This may not be so bad!

I really like this!

Easter Weekend

This past weekend was busy. On Friday, Alaina had a doctor’s appointment. She now weighs 7 pounds and 13 ounces and she is 20 ½ inches long. This appointment was her first of many where she will have her immunizations. She screamed for awhile and then it was over. It made her mad more than anything and being hungry didn’t help matters! But she got a good report. We have really been pleased with our pediatrician, Dr. Dennis. He is really great with Alaina and he encourages us to “keep doing what you're doing.” This helps me know that Daniel and I are doing the best we can as parents. Sometimes that is very reassuring!

On Saturday, Alaina got to visit with Aunt Ashley and Mimi, who brought her pink bunny ears and a soft pink rabbit that was as big as she was! She enjoyed visiting and talking with them. They also got to see Alaina in her swing for the first time. She really enjoys swinging!

Sunday was Alaina's first Easter. That morning before church she got to see what the Easter Bunny brought her. She enjoyed looking at everything.
Isn't our Easter dress beautiful?

Isn't that a pitiful face?

After church, we went to Mamaw and Papaw's (Daniel's parents) to eat lunch and hunt Easter eggs. The best thing about the egg hunt is that the eggs are filled with money! Even though Alaina was asleep, Mamaw made sure that she "found" some eggs.

The Paci Nazi

A couple of weeks after our trip to Memphis, Alaina traveled to Birmingham to see her Poppa, who is in the hospital. Five hours is a long time to ride in the car with a two month old!! She loves traveling in the day, but the night is a different story!! I don't think that she is afraid of the dark. I think she just wants to see what is going on! So from Tuscaloosa to Grenada, we had to ride with the light on! That was easier on Aunt Ashley, who had to sit in the back and keep her entertained all the way home. When she would fuss, Aunt Ashley would try all kinds of tricks and one of them was making Alaina hold the pacifier in her mouth until she relaxed and went to sleep. Sometimes this is no easy task. Alaina doesn't always want her pacifier. So, that is how Aunt Ashley became lovingly known as the Paci Nazi!

Also since there was no crib in the hotel room, Alaina had to sleep with me and Daniel. The first night, we did not sleep well. She is used to sleeping by herself so the second night we let her sleep in her car seat alone. We all slept better and were more friendlier the next day!

Hopefully, our travels are over for awhile! But we are glad that we went. Alaina was glad to spend time with her Mimi and Poppa! Now, she is ready for them to come home! I know they are ready to come home too!!

The Little Tea Shop

Every couple of months, my mom and I go to Memphis to eat with my sister Ashley. One of our favorite places to eat is The Little Tea Shop, where the waitresses fight over the customers. Suhair, the owner, adores babies and the front counter is wallpapered with baby pictures. Since my sister goes in there a lot to eat, she and Suhair are on first name bases.

A couple of weeks ago, we all took Alaina to have her first Little Tea Shop experience. I didn't get in the door good when Suhair grabbed Alaina and brought her to the "best" table. Then she proceeded to kiss her feet and bless her.

After we ate, Ashley got Alaina out of the car seat and fed her. Barbara our waitress held her and then gave her to Suhair, who took her back to the kitchen and gave her the grand tour. It was a fun day for all!!!

Here is Suhair and Alaina.
